Cormorants do not have waterproof feathers, this allows for deep fast diving, as they are great fishermen. One often sees them drying their wings on logs. This painting is of a group of cormorants in Dodd’s Narrows close to the Duke Point ferry docks in Nanaimo.
It appears one bird is describing the size of the fish he caught to the others, which explains the name of the painting. This is her daughter’s favourite picture due to her love of drama.
