The Pacific Rim National Park draws multiple tourists, including artists to its beaches. This park is one of the most accessible and beautiful spots on Vancouver Island, with its big sky views and miles of beach.
The beach in this painting is called “Wickaninnish”. It is an early morning view of the pink hued fog rolling inland over blue waves, with the furthest outcrop of land hidden in the mist. The seagulls are enjoying their catch on the wave wet beach. The season is early spring, so the sand pipers have yet to develop their showy spotted feathers. One can only imagine the briny smell of this tranquil scene.
