Sandra confides “Sometimes a magical moment happens when creating. It is as if someone else is controlling the brush, helping her choose the colors.” That was how she felt when painting this picture.
 
The backdrop in the original photo was a pale flat water area with no interest. The challenge was to enhance the magnificence of the great blue heron. This painting is titled due to the jewel tones of the birds feathers which are echoed in the sea grass and water, along with the emerald greens and jade colors.
